Steve is an accomplished race consultant with a rich road racing background including a 33:07 10K and 2:55 Marathon. He has directed the nationally-known Times-Herald Record 10K Classic and the Catskill Relay, among others. With USA Track and Field Certification Steve has certified a number of race courses from 5K to 100K. As race director for the JRunners 200K, which he considers his most exciting and challenging assignment- he is involved and oversees every facet of the race, including planning the route, working with the many jurisdictions and police authorities, and procuring the necessary permits.
RACE COACH: Jerry Macari
Jerry Macari is a well known top runner in NYC, a 2 hr. 24 minute marathoner, and USA Track and Field Certified Coach. He is also a frequent New York Road Runner Club "Runner Of The Year", nominee, having won the title as a master in the year 2000. Since completing the first USA Track and Field certification seminar in 1986, Jerry has been coaching runners. He has coached sub 2:20 marathoners as well as those taking their first running steps. From beginners to experienced runners, Jerry will be providing insightful coaching ideas and a general training to help all complete the relay in the best possible way. COACH/PHYSICAL THERAPIST: Chaim Backman
Chaim Backman is a Brooklyn, NY based physical therapist. A long time runner, he completed the Yonker's Marathon in '05 and the Philadelphia Marathon in '06 and '09 as well as the world famous NYC marathon in '08. In 2007, he completed the NYC Triathlon as a member of the Team One Family team that helped raise money for victims of terrorist attacks in Israel. He also completed the Nations Triathlon '08, as well as the Bassman Half Ironman '08, as well as a number of shorter races and duathlons, many of them right here in Brooklyn. He also has helped many people in their quest to start running, biking and swimming. Chaim completed the USAT triathlon coaching course, Level I, in January 2009 and is now a certified triathlon coach. Chaim was featured in many articles in various Jewish and PT magazines. He is currently training for the Lake Placid Ironman in July '10.
